Ashlyn Smith is an associate at GableGotwals, where his practice focuses on complex litigation in both state and federal courts.

His experience includes representing energy companies in quiet title, toxic tort, and surface damage cases. He has also represented manufactures in a variety of product liability cases. Ashlyn regularly represents businesses in complex commercial contract disputes in both trial and appellate courts. Recently, in one such case, Ashlyn co-authored an appellate brief that was instrumental in achieving a favorable ruling for the client. See Harvest Grp., LLC v. Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, Inc., 90 F.4th 1271 (10th Cir. 2024). Ashlyn is also a published author on Law360, among other publications.

Ashlyn graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While in law school, Ashlyn was a member of the Oklahoma Law Review and earned numerous honors, including top grades in Oil and Gas, Environmental Law, and Advanced Persuasive Writing. Following graduation, Ashlyn scored in the top 3.5% on the Multistate Bar Exam. He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida.

Before law school, Ashlyn served as an officer in the United States Air Force. He continues to serve part-time in the Oklahoma Air National Guard and has deployed four times over the course of his 16-year military career, most recently as the commander of an expeditionary special operations squadron.

Ashlyn currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
